The Tables Have Turned

I have been searching high and low for the perfect table to put our study. Originally, I had my eyes on several vintage writing desks. They're elegant, and embody the polished feel of a traditional study. However, when I received a ginormous iMac from my sweet husband for Christmas, I was forced to modify my search in order to accommodate the computer's dimensions.

I'm not complaining in the least bit, really. Looking back, I've noticed that many of the inspiration photos from my previous post featured rather substantial tables prominently placed in the focal point of a room. I decided to search for beautiful dining tables that could double up as larger desks, and discovered a ton of fabulous options. Eventually, I set my heart on the Sheridan Table from *ahem* Tarjay. Here's a style board I whipped up with Mr. Sheridan taking center stage~

I am swooning over this table's classic lines, the old world charm of its turned legs, and the generous surface area it provides without being ridiculously proportioned or bulky. The Sheridan's handsomely distressed finish compliments our existing pieces beautifully, and its size -and price- totally fit the bill.

Splendid Studies

We are currently in the process of converting our spare bedroom into a study. My goal is to design an elegant, yet cozy space that reflects our interests and accommodates a variety of activities. As always, I'm aiming to balance masculine and feminine elements in order to create a versatile room that Chris and I will be able to enjoy together. Here are some photos I've gathered for inspiration~

Someday, I will have a built-in library with a ladder. Mark my words!

Bench Warmer

I have been stalking and drooling over this lovely tufted bench from Restoration Hardware for months, and today, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered it! I am now eagerly awaiting the arrival of a beautiful, charcoal, vintage velvet baby.

The bench features stain-resistant upholstery, which is fantastic since it will be serving as extra seating at our dining table when we have guests. I just love the banquette-y feel of plush benches mixed in with slightly more formal seating arrangements.

When we're not entertaining, I'm going to roll this rockstar's pretty little casters all over our home. There are tons of great spots to park a bench. By a window, at the foot of a bed, near the entryway, or even floating in the middle of a room. Our custom order should be ready to ship in 5-6 weeks. I am totally counting the days!
