Moving Day

It’s hard to believe that this will be the last post I write from our home on Booth Street. Over the past seven years, apartment 6G has sheltered me as I’ve grown into the person I am today. It is filled with unforgettable memories. I will truly miss this place and the friendly neighborhood that has become so familiar through the years.

Chris and I were running around like two headless chickens yesterday, tackling last-minute errands and logistics. It was exhausting, and I felt super stressed and emotional all day. With all the chaos surrounding our move, I figured we'd be too crazed to celebrate Valentine's Day. But, as usual, Mr. Jeng had something up his sleeve - a simple picnic in the middle of our empty new apartment.

I couldn’t have imagined a sweeter first memory for us to share together in our new home.
I know there will be many more :)

We’ll be bouncing around over the next several weeks as our team works on wrapping up some final details. Lots more to come once I resurface from this sea of bubble wrap, boxes, and tape. Wish me luck!

Love of My Light

Chris surprised me with this awesome beaver skull and had my bat custom framed for Christmas last week. They are so ridiculously fabulous! :) I also received this stunning light fixture as a gift, which I am totally over the moon about.

The Hicks Pendant by Thomas O'Brien is wildly popular in the interior design world, and I have been pining after this bad boy ever since the moment I first laid eyes on it. Deliciously handsome in its simplicity, this pendant effortlessly compliments a multitude of styles and living spaces. Mr. Hicks is a solid and timeless statement piece, and I have a good feeling he will be very happy in our new kitchen.

Fly

Remember that gut feeling I had back in January about all the changes that were about to take place? Boy, was I right, and what an extraordinary year it has been.

2012 was a roller coaster of peaks, plunges, twists, loops, and turns. I started it out with lots of kicking and screaming, terrified of every tiny little bump. But somewhere along the way, little by little, I found myself finally letting go. While I may not have both hands up in the air just yet, I am definitely starting to enjoy the ride. This year has left me breathless and dizzy, and I am having the time of my life.

I never would've imagined that we'd be living out of boxes as we embark upon this new year, but I could not be happier. Even as I write this, our home is being prepped for a complete transformation, making way for a perfectly fresh, new begining. We have so many things to be excited about and thankful for, and I simply cannot wait to see what 2013 has up its sleeve.

I hope you and your loved ones are enjoying a refreshing and peaceful holiday. Happy New Year!
